At the Youth Empowerment Series (Yes).

Yes, am a serious professional too, my fulltime budget analyst job 9-5, and  freelancing at Nigerian Reporter on all things Nigerian, Nigerians in diaspora and Nigerian soccer baby!

You may be at that stage where all you are doing is visiting the doctor’s office with your child in tow, or is it the other way round, no time for hair or makeup and all you ever seem to do is clean up after your kids when they mess up what you cleaned up, omg.  It takes you more time to clean up, and then!!!! in the blink of an eye … a few minutes… blessed mother of Jesus my lovely children they mess it up again.

You will make it and I know this because I did too, it looks daunting but if you take each day at a time and not look into the months and years to come. You can do it, I have found that visualization does not work here, I don’t want to see dirty rooms when my kids are in high school, so yes I will pass on that.

You know that you are doing a good thing in this house of beautiful chaos, so learn to find peace. There will be a time you will crave it as a single mom, but it will surely come – because the kids will go off to camps, or friends homes and you get a break.

As a single mom this is what I know. My last born was sick a lot, I had long hours of administering asthma medication to him and then having to go to work the next day. I went to work exhausted and I always felt bad leaving him at the babysitter, and girlfriend was I lucky in the babysitter I had. She would urge me to bring him and go to work, she would say … go mama … I will give him his doctor’s medicine. She was my awesome person, my superhero.

Find a quiet time, It could be in the morning or late at night and seek to draw closer to God. Quiet time connects you into a place of focus and peace, of affirmation and regenerates your own inner strength.

When you cannot call friends, or families are out of reach. At those time I found my maker, cried to him and he laughed with me. He revealed things to me, he said be still.

You have to want this like red lipstick and high heels on a fall day, not too hot or cold. Well I do now. But I wish I had know what I know now I would have tried harder to want it then, but everything in its own season. Do I regret it?  No, not for one second because red lipstick are so much better now in 2016 than they were in 2008 and my high heel are so much more comfortable now with the new technology in those sole, mmmm.

Okay, back to quiet time.

Quiet time requires intentionality and you must resolve to stick to the commitment or it won’t work. But to do this you need, intentionality in scheduling your time in to seek him, 5, 10, 15 or 20 minutes is a start.

During quiet time, do not pick up the phone, don’t check your email, leave the project and planner and just bask in your connection to the creator, I’m shouting as I declare he has put eternity in our hearts as we all seek his face.

Change watch

  1. Figure out when you will start meeting with God just seat, no pressure to pray or read the bible and just listen to him ( early mornings or evenings) and be amazed at what happens when instead people tell you that you look refreshed not tired.

Activities and Events this month

Watch out for a video or a podcast on quiet time.

Encouragement from an optimistic single mom.

Life changed for me in 2008, and since then it has been an adventure.
I have learnt to love the road I am on, and smell the roses while driving on it too.

I believe that standards of living can change without a moment’s notice, affecting our old way of life.

That Passion can die, and be reignited again.

I found my passion and It’s writing and the story behind it.

I’m super passionate about hospitality, leadership and finance.

I am a single mom of boys who wants to change the world through a smile and genuine service.

I own up to the fact that I make an awesome follower.

I encourage and I inspire. I write, I blog, sometimes – I lead well, and sometimes I follow badly. But the important thing is to get started.

I recently met Simon Sinek, the Start with Why Guy and and so continue to inspire the world.

Email me for a free 20 minute chat or to help you on your way to your Why.

from my heart, xoxoxo
