TRUE OR FALSE: YOU SHOULD NEVER SHARE YOUR DREAMS OR VISION?

The answer to the title question is FALSE.

I conducted a small survey, that found that 1 in every 13 people believe that they should not share their visions, dreams and ideas with other people because it will be stolen without their permission. I also discovered that no one is exempt from stealing your vision, ideas or dreams: family, friends, enemies and acquaintances will steal your idea or change it to fit into an existing service they already have.

Growing up I always heard don’t share your dreams and vision, now when I think about it it’s such a flawed assumption. When I think about all the people who believed this and all the dreams that never got a shot at being shared or stolen by others, I cringe. What I should have heard growing up is: when you have a dream or vision go sit down, write what you want to do, how you want to do it and how long it will take to get it done; then give it a good test run for a few months before sharing it with others.

I’m telling you that no one can steal your vision and dreams; they can try but it won’t be the same, because you are the secret ingredient to your dreams.

I urge sharing because one day you will find the one dream that’s tied to your gifts, talent and interests. If you don’t share, how do you find other dreamers, other helpers, get investors, or hire employees, and fine tune what your vision and dream is. It’s only in sharing that you get ideas and receive feedback on what you do.

I’ll respect and support you if you don’t believe in sharing your dream with others, even if I don’t believe that myself. And that’s why I have two (2) questions below to think about why you don’t like sharing.

Is it because you were told not to in the past.

Or because of a bad experience with people.

Either question you choose if it’s time to test the reasoning.

Is it possible that our philosophy is based on our parents’ philosophy or that of others, could  it be our upbringing, the environment we grew up in, our fears,  other people’s fears and or just our view of life experience.

The problem with believing people steal our vision is not with them… (you know) “the people”.

I’m sorry to say this….

Wait for it: It’s not them, it’s “YOU”.

You’ve got to believe in your dreams and destiny more than everyone else, more than yesterday, more than tomorrow.

While researching this topic I came across the two (2) people who shared their visions with others and what happened after both encounters.

Joseph in the Bible shared his dreams with his brothers and his entire future got derailed as a result.

Snapchat CEO, Evan Spiegel who rejected the $3 Billion offer from Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg’s in 2014 after they had extensive meetings together.

Snapchat CEO lucked out and Joseph learnt things the hard way.  At the end of the day even though Joseph was sold (literally his dreams was stolen) he still became who he saw in his dream, and  I wonder if that’s the same reason Snapchat CEO didn’t sell his company, when you see what your future looks like it’s hard to let go.

I’m telling you that no one can steal your vision and dreams; they can try but it won’t be the same, because you are the secret ingredient to your dreams.

Work on your vision, figure out what is important and pursue it with focus and determination.

Be convinced about it more than everyone you’ve shared no matter how many times you’ve shared it.

If you will keep planning, keep executing, keep moving then it will come to pass: your visions, dreams and goals.

My personal dream and vision is to get you excited about your dreams, vision and big ideas so you can start living it out.

Chang watch: Do this –  Learn to follow your gut feeling on whom not to share with.  If it does not feel right then that your sign, and yes, certain people shouldn’t be told of your dreams and ideas.  When you make it, don’t forget those that pushed you on towards your dream when you shared with them, they must forever hold a spot of honor in your heart.

I excited for you and the journey you’re on.

Pleases share, post, comment!

Sincerely In  God’s Joy with love and kisses,

Gloria

Encouragement from an optimistic single mom. Life changed for me in 2008, and since then it has been an adventure. I have learnt to love the road I am on, and smell the roses while driving on it too.
