Staying Organized for when School Starts
In a few weeks most schools will reopen, “NOW” is the time to start getting your kids on a schedule of waking and sleeping on time, their lack of a schedule when school starts will affect us more than we know.
This is also a good time to sit down and figure out what your and their activities for the new school year will be, what are the priorities of each child academically and extra-curricular wise?
Do you know that the first few weeks of school is the time when they are grouped into classes based on their proficiency level. Do all you can to help them succeed by helping them make the best impression in their grade. Review the activities for the first unit of school and do a refresher. You can find this information on the school website categorized by grade.
If all your child does is refresh on last years activities, he already has a head start this school year.
Put your kids on a schedule, kids need a schedule at all times just like we do. How would I live without my list. Really, it’s how I survive day-to-day as you continue to enjoy summer, try to stick to one or two routines with your kids, it will help on that first day of school.
What does your family do? I start practicing this consistently at least two weeks before school starts with my boys.
- Daily kids must practice cleaning up and putting things back in their place.
- Daily, get their bags and clothes ready for play/school the next day.
- Cut out Television during the week, I suggest a schedule that is from Friday to Sunday for watching TV when school is in session.
- Set a time for the children to go to bed, staggered bed time is okay if you have kids ranging from stages teens or pre-teens to elementary aged.
