The #1 Way Out of Lack is … An Education

Dream, Hope, Visison, Oprah, Marie Forleo, Simon Sinek, Hierachy of Needs,

Having a job means we don’t have to think of the money we need to pay our bills or what to eat or that our car will get repossessed; it takes away stress, anxiety and helps us afford a way to live.

Our basic needs; food, healthcare, shelter, transportation, childcare and clothing, is the framework where dreaming again becomes possible.

Of these basic needs, there is one that is more important than all the other needs put together, “it’s our job” the work we do, it is vital to our aspiration, and ability to dream and reach for more in life.

Simple and unassuming in our lives is the role that having a job, a vocation or work we love plays. For anyone going through a job loss or change I’m believing with you that your résumé will be moved from the bottom of the pile to the top, this week.

If working is interrupted by adversity such as a physical disability, death, divorce, separation, furlough, or job loss, that’s when dreaming and envisioning stops, the basic needs to fulfillment will need to be recreated for an individual to be able to dream again either when they get a job or vocation for a fee or for free.

This inspiration to dream again can sometimes be found in other places but for most of us it’s in the work we do. Our jobs, vocation and work we do, because it inspires us to look outside our own comfort level to empathize and give of ourselves to others.

You maybe able to relate in so many ways, ever lost a job, or can you relate as a recent college graduate struggling to find a job, that’s when you realize that having a job is what holds our dreams and visions together.

Check out two stories below, Caroline a Single Mom of 2 children and Tim Allen a well know Actor.

Let’s look at the life of a fictional character based on my own personal story; Caroline loses her job and the “domino effect” starts, she is weary and confused until she found a new Job and starts dreaming again.

Caroline is a single mom of 2 children; struggling after losing her job, she has used up all her savings is on all the available welfare services.

In the process; she lost her home. Without a home the stress level is a high you can’t dream or imagine the future when stressed.

Caroline finally finds a place to stay free for two months and found a Job at the same time.

She takes the new job, turns out it’s twenty-five minutes (25) away from her children’s school and 45 minutes from where she will now move to.

One thing is clear; She must decide if she will take this job irrespective of the distance.

But life is getting better for her and her kids, hope is closer.

The first paycheck Caroline gets; she pays her bills and she treats the family to a well-deserved ice-cream inside a restaurant, the kids were excited and started sharing what they did that day in school and what would happen next week…they can finally start dreaming again.

One thing that having a job and a steady paycheck does to this parent is that now she can get back to living life and helping others.

Let’s look at the life of a well know celebrity; he was locked up in jail but never gave up, came out and found a job then began dreaming again and now he is one of the most respected celebrities around.

Tim Allen, was arrested and served 28 months in the early 90’s at a state penitentiary after his arrest at the Kalamazoo Creek International airport.

While in the state Penitentiary he put on comedy shows to protect himself, by the time his term was over and was released a friend dared him to an open mic at a Detroit area comedy club where he was an instant hit.

He has since gone on to star in various hit shows; like “Home Improvement” and the movie franchise “Santa Clause”.

On his inspiring story, he has been quoted as saying “sometimes you have to hit bottom to know where to go”

Change Watch: DO this – We must never misjudge the certainty of keeping our jobs, anything can happen that causes a change in our company, our life and circumstances or the economy. Are you ready?

Do you have a backup plan for your family if something goes wrong?

Are you saving or are you over-leveraged in your financial commitments?

Take time this weekend, to plan your expenses versus income on paper and see if your family can live off 1 income or can save at least 10 percent of your take home pay. Updated 2/9/18

Encouragement from an optimistic single mom. Life changed for me in 2008, and since then it has been an adventure. I have learnt to love the road I am on, and smell the roses while driving on it too. I believe that standards of living can change without a moment’s notice, affecting our old way of life. That Passion can die, and be reignited again. I found my passion and It's writing and the story behind it. I'm super passionate about hospitality, leadership and finance. I am a single mom of boys who wants to change the world through a smile and genuine service. I own up to the fact that I make an awesome follower. I encourage and I inspire. I write, I blog, sometimes - I lead well, and sometimes I follow badly. But the important thing is to get started. I recently met Simon Sinek, the Start with Why Guy and and so continue to inspire the world. Email me for a free 20 minute chat or to help you on your way to your Why.
