Finding Time For You
Burn-out is real and Self-care heals!
The challenging task of finding more time in the day is the same for every mother, single mom or not. We are constantly balancing work, family and play time for our children but not investing time for ourselves.
Strangely, I will find time for my children’s invites for; birthday parties, play-date, camping trips, drop off and pick up for basketball and football practice and games and trips to the barbershop to get their haircut.
For mommy to get her hair done, na wahala (wahala means ‘this is a problem”). I will end up scheduling 3 appointments before finally getting it done, do you see how wrong this is? What impression are we giving our kids for how to behave when older.
So, if you are like me the new plan is to create time because no one has enough time we all create it. As you start to fit in hobbies, side hustle, exercise, eating healthy and meditation and/or prayer you will notice that creating and finding time becomes easier for you.
Time equals joy and alignment of flow/balance to finish current task and tackle new ones.
3 ways to start below for all moms –
- Have a meeting with kids let them know that when you are in the house from X time to Y time it is for the business, explain to your kids that once mommy finishes with business she will join in the family activity and spend quality time with them. Don’t forget to kiss and feed them once you get home.
- Assign chores and activities, while you are working to keep them busy.
- Use a notebook, journal or planner to schedule and plan your time, recording accomplishments as you learn to use your time productively.
