Reflecting As We Head Into The Weekend -The 3rd Installment Of The Parent of Immigrant Origin Parent Engagement Workshop

As we head into the weekend for the 3rd installment of the PIOPEW… I am reflecting on my life so far. The last 7 years of my journey of self-discovery.

If I was asked for an opening line for this reflection I would say…

When you don’t speak your mind people make decisions on your behalf and you find yourself in situations where you end up making decisions that you may not have ignored if you were more in tune with your gut feelings/ your inner voice.

That’s why I always felt like I fell into the accounting and finance world, and that’s why I felt I married too, really. I felt like these 2 life paths were not my direct choices, that life somehow put me in a place where that was what I had to choose. (ain’t that the definition of a path).

Also that, my choice of the vocation/career/work I love to do / work I was created for was also one of the other places I gave my power away. Or so I thought.

And that’s why finding my calling was one of the other things on my list on my journey to rediscover myself after my divorce in 2015. Like, did I totally give that power of the vocation away too I wondered?

7 years later-

In hindsight, as we host the 3 installments of the parent engagement workshop, this couldn’t be more not true, this couldn’t be more fake than anything else.

See… what happened was or should I say is, we are on a journey here on earth to fulfill a purpose and everything is supposed to lead you to that purpose, that purpose being your vocation. And even the turns, the turns the world has defined as the wrong ones will lead you there if you… know the key.

The key to that vocation/calling can be found in drumroll please 🥁 “being aware enough to see if you’re on the right path, and that if you’re not you make a conscious decision to make corrections to pivot, to self-correct.

On my same journey, as I have searched for mine’s. What amazes me is that I have found people whose paths have been straightforward, Linear, with no turns no pivot needed.

See, they walked a straight path from the beginning no pivoting was on their path, and no corrections had to be made.

And that’s why I started digging into why there was a difference, why 2 sets of people exist and that’s how I stumbled on childhood development and how it is critical to our growth and our life‘s call.

I believe that at the end of the day, that, the universe, that God the creator of the universe wants us all to be our truly formed and developed selves, “secure individuals” and when that’s accomplished we fulfill our life’s call.

I truly believe now that some people’s paths are linear and some people’s paths are not.

The question is which of those 2 people are you? And if in fact, you didn’t develop well, how would you even know and if you could correct it would you want to? Because that would mean stopping to be a victim, carrying your own cross, taking initiative for where you are now, and fixing what should have developed well, would you stop being a victim and become a survivor?

I look forward to seeing you at the PioPew on Saturday for our upcoming sessions.

Encouragement from an optimistic single mom. Life changed for me in 2008, and since then it has been an adventure. I have learnt to love the road I am on, and smell the roses while driving on it too. I believe that standards of living can change without a moment’s notice, affecting our old way of life. That Passion can die, and be reignited again. I found my passion and It's writing and the story behind it. I'm super passionate about hospitality, leadership and finance. I am a single mom of boys who wants to change the world through a smile and genuine service. I own up to the fact that I make an awesome follower. I encourage and I inspire. I write, I blog, sometimes - I lead well, and sometimes I follow badly. But the important thing is to get started. I recently met Simon Sinek, the Start with Why Guy and and so continue to inspire the world. Email me for a free 20 minute chat or to help you on your way to your Why.
