Easy Ways to Buy Every Thing, Every Month, This Year

Come back every month for more in my money smart series.

Every month I’ll add 2 new months to the list…
Keep an eye out for the rest of the series: Easy Ways to Buy Every Thing, Every Month, This Year – February and August next month.

Between 2009 and 2011, I couponed much, at that time the income coming in was not enough to sustain my family of 4. The good thing was it was also during the recession so everyone was doing this. After a while I noticed a pattern, the same sale item would roll around again in 3-6 months – check out a picture of my stash I would crazy coupon by buying and stack the items together.

If you are a divorced, separated busy parent who can’t pull a double shift, work part-time, or side hustle with a second job and are looking to save money, or stick to a goal to live below your means this year by reducing or cutting out some expenses then knowing the sales cycles will be useful for your family. I wrote an article: I found I could save up to 20% off my grocery budget and apply it to other areas I was short on, click to read the article.
combine this with your local grocery store circular to see what’s on sale before heading to the store.

When looking to live below your means, and save money, when working a second job is not an option, an alternative is to save money in your food budget. And also on major purchases like electronics, appliances, furniture, grocery, etc.

This article combines the best of two worlds: the best time to buy and it also gives you enough time to save for certain items. The 2 ingredients you need to know to save is when to buy and time to save up to buy.

things to remember

  1. Sales are in cycles, they are seasonal meaning the show up every; one, three, six months every 12 months.
  2. Save money by buying in bulk when items are on sale, bulk doesn’t mean you buy 12 items it just means you buy enough till the next sale cycle say maybe 3-4 items.

I’m writing this in January 2020, but the first article in the series will start with JULY, why you ask. That way we have enough time to save for major items when that sale period rolls around. One of my things is our mindset and I believe to change our mindset we need to follow a routine, a pattern and to do that we need time.

The next January isn’t until the next 12 months and that doesn’t give you enough time to save. But if we start in July, you’ve got six months to plan and to save before buying.

What to expect in every next article, I’ll make sure to include the seasonal produce items and the best things to buy for the current month at the end of the article too. Example, January is known for furniture‘s and for holiday supplies as you’re practicing and changing your mindset towards saving money then this would be the best time to buy if you’ve been saving for a new furniture and this would also be the best time to buy at the thrift store or consignment store as people buying new furniture send the old one to them … if you don’t have an issue with consignment stores or Goodwill shopping that is. I wrote an article: click here to read point #2 easy ways to save at consignment or thrift stores.

If you’ve been planning on buying that new furniture because your furniture got destroyed when your living room got flooded, this is the time to start saving money to buy it because there’ll be furniture sales in July.

As a parent, July means summer is officially in full gear and schools out, so no more carrying around that light jacket. I’m glad when school isn’t in session but the fact that everything now follows an unorganized pattern of camp, vacation, visits from and to friends and family means this sensitive and shy girl needs a recharge. I’ll take any opportunity I’m given to head into BestBuy or Walmart just so I can do a quick recharge by browsing around nothing.

Encouragement from an optimistic single mom. Life changed for me in 2008, and since then it has been an adventure. I have learnt to love the road I am on, and smell the roses while driving on it too. I believe that standards of living can change without a moment’s notice, affecting our old way of life. That Passion can die, and be reignited again. I found my passion and It's writing and the story behind it. I'm super passionate about hospitality, leadership and finance. I am a single mom of boys who wants to change the world through a smile and genuine service. I own up to the fact that I make an awesome follower. I encourage and I inspire. I write, I blog, sometimes - I lead well, and sometimes I follow badly. But the important thing is to get started.
