Work: Knowing Yourself and Your Path With Corye – #004
Hi everyone, This is Gloria the host of the loving the work you do podcast. In this episode I talked to Corye; millennial, esthetician and future nurse practitioner about knowing yourself and your path.
Here are some helpful definitions:
When I searched in google for the definition of an esthetician it gave me this: a person who is knowledgeable about the nature and appreciation of beauty, especially in art.
The website balance careers goes deeper defining it as …”
An “esthetician” is another name for a skincare specialist. This occupation involves evaluating the condition of a client’s skin, determining which treatments will best enhance that person’s appearance, then explaining and administering those treatments to the client.
Estheticians give clients facials, remove unwanted hair, do microdermabrasion, apply chemical peels, and sell skincare products. They are also trained to recognize conditions that require treatment by a dermatologist, a physician who specializes in skin. Esthetics is a branch of cosmetology.
Goggle also defines a nurse as someone who is qualified to treat certain medical conditions without the direct supervision of a doctor.
The Nurse Journal goes deeper defining it as … “
A nurse practitioner is a registered nurse who has higher education and training in a particular area, such as pediatrics or family practice. Nurse practitioners have a master’s degree, known as a MSN, as well as board certification in their specialty.
Any registered nurse would be expected to deliver medical treatment and care to a variety of patients, sometimes under the supervision of doctors. However, when you earn a Master of Science degree in nursing, otherwise referred to as a MSN, you will be able to start honing in on a particular aspect of your nursing knowledge”.
I apologize in advance and also say thanks in advance for your patience due to the various technical difficulties my internet gave me while we recorded this episode; you’ll notice the glitches in minutes (29:17-29-22; 44:47-45:05; 53:59-54:39;1:00:42-1:00:59), in the future I’ll have a better way of editing things like this out.
If you hold on till the end you’ll enjoy Corye and I going deep into some really amazing conversation about how certain people may perceive us to be a certain way without digging deeper and or not wanting to hang with you to do the work that type of relationship brings with it.
In this episode:
- We talked about how words from teachers will break a child’s heart and dream. How negativity to children is one of the reasons children get off the track of finding the work they’re called to at an early age.
- We talked about the fact that life happens and how it can take you off your goal and path in life, but if you know what you need to do you will always come back to it.
- We talked about the right way to manifest your dream and vision, specifically if you’re looking for a man how to go about that. Also, chatted about how some of us don’t date because we think it will end in a marriage. The truth is that it doesn’t need to lead anywhere.
I love these quotes that Corye referenced as we discussed when we think our path is being derailed-:
“we think small, but God gives them bigger”
- We talked about vision boards and Corye shared how it should be done… “Write your vision down, break it to small steps with end goals, so the universe can absorb it and then send it back to you”
- We talked about how Corye fell in love with Nursing, studying to become a Nurse Practitioner. Corye is leaving a legacy, breaking generational curses and how her going to college has inspired others in her family to go back and finish what they started and others to want to go get their own degree too. She’s going to be the 1st in her family to graduate with a degree! To see what corye is up to you can find her on twitter or Instagram @hernamescorye.
