Podcast: Episode #017 – Innovators, Creators and Builders Series with Kim Korven: Divorcing The Gentle Way

In this episode of the podcast, I chat with Kim Korven.

divorce, marriage, communication, Kim Korven, child support, dr. dre, spousal support, alimony, re-marriage.

Kim Korven is an unlikely advocate of peaceful divorce. She was competitive in judo and for many years, a practicing attorney. One would expect she would enjoy conflict. Yet when her marriage was not working, she was nearly overcome with anxiety and a desire to avoid conflict with her spouse altogether. Thus, she remained married when she knew in her heart her family would be better if they separated. Traditional divorce terrified her. She knew all too well what it looked like through an attorney’s eyes. So, she set out to change the traditional narrative of dramatic, painful divorce and did so peacefully discovering that divorce can be transformative and restorative for all involved.

She learned it starts with how you raise divorce with your spouse. Kim is no longer a practicing attorney and dedicates herself to working with families as a mediator or consultant to help them achieve similar results. Kim lives in Regina, Canada with her children, second husband, retired rescue greyhounds, and several rescue cats. Most recently, she and her former spouse have begun co-parenting a cat.

A few of the questions I asked Kim:

Q: What’s The Gentle Way of Divorce?

Q: What’s the story behind starting The Gentle Way Divorce?

Q: Can you share how to tell a spouse you want a divorce using The Gentle Way Divorce?

Q: How do you know that it’s time to consider a divorce.

Q: On your website, you share that with The Gentle Way Divorce; you get to Sleep Better, Smile More, Feel Confident and Alive can you share more about that?

Q: Have you worked with anyone who considered divorce and ended up staying married?

Why Innovators, Creators and Builders? Why the Innovators series? Well, I just know that I can do a little bit better when I have a cheat-sheet on how to do a thing. And most innovators are always willing to share what they know when you ask. So, I asked and we have all these really great episodes lined up for you.

Who is today’s Podcast for, it really is for everyone who wants to find the tools to become better in all they do, to get to that higher version of themselves they were created to be? And this doesn’t mean that there is something wrong with those of us that aspire to be better, what we do know is that to do our highest work and to show up as our highest self we need to be self-aware.

Encouragement from an optimistic single mom. Life changed for me in 2008, and since then it has been an adventure. I have learnt to love the road I am on, and smell the roses while driving on it too. I believe that standards of living can change without a moment’s notice, affecting our old way of life. That Passion can die, and be reignited again. I found my passion and It's writing and the story behind it. I'm super passionate about hospitality, leadership and finance. I am a single mom of boys who wants to change the world through a smile and genuine service. I own up to the fact that I make an awesome follower. I encourage and I inspire. I write, I blog, sometimes - I lead well, and sometimes I follow badly. But the important thing is to get started. I recently met Simon Sinek, the Start with Why Guy and and so continue to inspire the world. Email me for a free 20 minute chat or to help you on your way to your Why.
